Traveling with Your iPad
Now that the iPad has officially been released, people are scrambling to get their hands on the gadgets and experiment with just how they plan to use the thing. Bill at padgadget.com decided to travel with his iPad instead of of his laptop, and says that while he found it to be a smooth transition, he would recommend you purchase several iPad accessories to take along for the ride.
Among the suggested accessories: Klipsch 24 in-ear headphones. Bill says he considers these are the best headphones for blocking out "engine noise or the screaming kid in seat 14c." He also says they're really comfortable. He also suggests getting an iPad Stand, an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and GoGo Inflight Internet. For more of Bill's suggestions, visit PadGadget.com.
Meanwhile, designer, manufacturer and retailer of laptop and traveler bags, TOM BIHN, has designed a personal carry-on travel bag that is designed to fit the iPad. The Co-Pilot's sleeve inside the main compartment is just the right size for your iPadk inside the Apple case. Other features the bag offers, include YKK splash-proof zippers, an ultrasuede lined iPhone pocket, a water bottle pocket, and multiple pen and organizational pockets. For $110, the bag can be ordered through the TOM BIHN website and will be available in mid-June. TOM BIHN is also creating a protective sleeve and messenger bag, both built specifically for the iPad
And finally, Tony Bradly at PCWorld.com says ditch your laptop and take your iPad along when you travel. Why? Fist of all, the iPad is lighter, thinner, and fits easily into a carry-on bag. Also, it'll be easier to get through security, due to the fact that the TSA has decided the iPad is not a laptop and can be left in your carry-on bag. He also mentions the iPad's extended battery life, versatility, and ease of use in a cramped space as reasons for taking your iPad on you next trip.

NileGuide's iPhone Travel App
Travel apps for the iPhone seem to be all the rage lately and now there are two more on the market. Apps from NileGuide and Gliider are great apps for people who enjoy traveling.
NileGuide's new app, called What's Next, uses iPhone's GPS technology to make suggestions to people in over 290 locations throughout the world. Looking for a nearby attraction, restaurant, hotel? Maye it's a kid-friendly spot, or maybe a place to go for a little romance you need? This app's got you covered. What's Next provides information from over 30 of NileGuide's partners, including TripAdvisor, Wine Travel Guide, and Citysearch. As a matter of fact, you can get most of the same information that's available on NileGuide's original website. However, if you're looking to access your NileGuide itineraries, you'll need to get the company's other app: Guide to Go.
The app's content is organized into categories such as Restaurants, Hotels, Nightlife, and Things to do, and once you enter into a category, you'll see a list of attractions sorted by "top picks." These are chosen by online reviews, awards, and your preferences. You can sort the attractions by which ones are located closest to you, and by other categories such as "hip" or "off the beaten path."
Once you pick the place you'd like to learn more about, you'll be presented with a picture, along with the address and phone number (the phone number is clickable), the place's website, and a review from a "local expert" or one of the partners. You can save each place to a list, if you'd like, or see the place (and your entire list) plotted on a map. While looking at the map, you'll be able to see other nearby places and click on them, as well.
According to the New York Times, in April, the company plans to add events such as concerts and plays to the app, allowing you to purchase tickets. What's Next will cost you $2.99.
