Samsung Has Just Given Apple Quite The Run For Its Money

America on the go. That is what our technology caters to now. Mobility. Practicality. Performance. We want it all, and many different tech companies have made note of that. Everyone from Asus, to Apple, to Samsung. We've gone from desktops and laptops, to smartphones and tablets. We want mobility. Well, we got it! With many people traveling for business every single day, it would only make sense to cater to the people who may need technology to be as mobile as they are. Businesses understand how to make money. Give the consumers what they want. Apple did that with the iPad. Boom. A more mobile "laptop" essentially. It took off like no one had expected. Competitors took note. The tablet war began.

What better way to cater to the mobile market, both average consumers and business consumers alike, than with the tablet? A touch screen computer display that's sleek and effective. Apple has capitalized on this market, and anyone would agree with that. Having said that, Apple can only stay on top for so long, right? That's what Samsung tends to think anyway.

Most companies attempted to jump on board the tablet bandwagon after they witnessed just how lucrative the iPad was becoming. Many of the tablets from Apple's competitors that you see on the market today tend to fall flat, and there's a reason for that. Not only does Apple have its name going for them (yes, it is a fashion statement, I don't care what anyone says), but they also have had the best hardware and were the first tablet on the mass market. That headstart really did help more than most people think. But Apple's biggest rival, Samsung, has something to throw into the tablet fray now, and it's definitely worth checking out.

Samsung has shown their new new tablet, the Galaxy Tab S. Now, if you're familiar with Samsung and their products, you know that the "S" line is their top tier product line. The Galaxy S5 is their most recent smartphone, and they put just about everything they had into it. Naturally you're going assume the same thing with the Tab S now. Your assumptions would be correct.

Samsung's plan was to "build the best tablet for our consumers". The only thing is that they've modeled this new Tab S to match the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display, almost exactly. The thickness of the new tablet is something to talk about as well. Everyone knows that the iPad Air was designed to be extremely thin and light. The new Tab S is actually thinner. There are currently two models being set up for retail; the 10.5-inch mode,l that happens to weigh just as much as the iPad Air, and the 8.4-inch model that is slightly lighter than the iPad Mini with Retina, coming in at 10 ounces. The dimensions are basically the same as the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina. The hardware on the inside even offers the same type of performance capabilities and is being priced to match the iPad Air and Mini. The new Tab S even has features like SideSync which is basically their version of Apple's Continuity. That Apple feature won't be out until iOS 8 drops later this year. Samsung already has a leg up.

It almost reminds me of how Xbox went ahead and lowered their price of the Xbox One from $500 to $400 in order to compete with the Playstation 4's $400 starting price tag.

The point that I'm trying to make here is that Samsung is finally attacking Apple head on with this new Tab S model, and while Apple may still be able to stay afloat, I'm sure they've definitely taken notice of what has happened and will plan accordingly.

Since today's businessmen and women are constantly on the go, it will be interesting to see just where the consumers will go to for their mobile technology needs.

If you've ever dreamed about flying off on holiday aboard your own private jet, your dreams may be about to come true. It’s a fact: flying privately is no longer a privilege reserved for the extremely rich and famous. How is this possible? Surely it costs many thousands of pounds to hire a private jet? Wrong: A seat on a private jet can now cost little more than a seat on a commercial airline.

Private jets in Europe carry an average of just over two passengers per journey, despite the fact that the aircrafts are usually designed to seat between eight and 12 people. Furthermore, 40% of these jets fly completely empty on their return journeys in Europe, and a staggering 60% in the USA. An increasing number of budding entrepreneurs are tapping into this market and setting up companies that offer passengers huge discounts on private flying – through group bookings and through bidding for otherwise empty return legs.

Accessible to “everyday passengers”

One such company in the US is Social Flights. CEO, Jay Deragon, claims that his company makes flying private available to everyday passengers. The Beta-tested site offers its members within the US the option to purchase individual seats on private jets, as opposed to having to hire the entire plane.  The site also offers the charter of a whole plane at an affordable rate by pooling together with other members that are looking to fly to the same locations at the same times.

Social Flights is proving extremely popular; within a few months of its launch, the company already had over 8,400 members. Between them, they access a fleet of more than 500 private jets. Deragon explains that his company gives people the ability and freedom to organize their travel either on their own or with others.

New method of transport

For European flights Victor offers a similar service. The company, run by successful entrepreneur Clive Jackson, offers members of the public almost half a million possible routes. It covers flights between almost a thousand European airports and has access to 200 aircraft. Jackson claims that, as the site grows in popularity, he is able to add increasing numbers of routes to customers. Victor now has over 2,100 members and is growing fast as people get used to the idea of this new and attractive method of transport. It’s easy to see why companies like Victor and Social Flights are becoming so popular. A seat on a flight from Luton to Malaga, for example, is currently being offered for £1,532 through Victor, as opposed to costing around £10,000 if you were to fly solo. It is still considerably more than an economy seat with a more conventional airline, agreed. However, the huge cut in costs makes private jet flying a lot more accessible for people that otherwise would not be able to afford it.

Revolutionizing the travel industry

This new mode of transport is being tipped to revolutionize the travel industry, and it is the power of social media, crowd collaboration and travel technology that is driving it. Both of the above companies depend on interaction and active participation from their members in order to succeed, and both use innovations in travel technology through sites that enable new services. The overall cost of a seat on board a private jet from Victor, for example, depends on how many other people want to fly with you. This therefore encourages the site’s community of members to encourage each other to fly; the more contact you make with other members, the more chance you have of finding other people that will share the cost of the jet with you.

Members can publish posts offering their desired point to point trip or book themselves onto an existing flight and then call on their social network to help fill that plane. In some cases, this activity can see the cost of each seat on the jet fall to below that of many commercial airlines.

So, next time you think about booking that holiday abroad, and you shudder at the thought of airport check-in queues and cramped seats, have a little browse on some of these sites. As more and more companies tap into this trend, these deals are sure to become even more accessible for the masses. New Pirate Dinner Theater Replaces Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede on the South Carolina Coast

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede is out and her new Pirates Voyage is in as the country singing sensation hoists the colors high in her new dinner theater show on the coast of South Carolina.

According to Parton, "We just needed to do something new and different." Parton was in South Carolina on Friday for the opening of the first show which features actors portraying pirates and mermaids. The show also includes real horses as well as sea lions. "We have been successful for 18 or 19 years," Parton added, "but pirates is a great theme - children love it, seniors love it."

The Dixie Stampede show closed last year and an $11 million renovation of the building took place, which included the construction of a 15-foot, 750,000-gallon indoor pool. 30-foot pirate galleons are located at either end of the theater while the sunken wreck of a third ship is located in the middle of the set.

Parton mentioned that the new theme has nothing to do with the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise but did add "that's a good plus. It's wonderful the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' No. 4 came out and it's No. 1 in the world. The timing couldn't be better but we didn't base it on that as much as having a wonderful theme."

Parton went on to say, "we've been talking about this for a few years. We thought it would be more fitting being here on the beach just to have something like that and we didn't want to build an additional one so we just thought that we would convert the Dixie Stampede."

Depending on how the show does in Myrtle Beach, Parton said she may attempt to bing the show to other seaside markets as well. "It was always planned for Myrtle Beach. We had a Dixie Stampede in Orlando and it didn't do very well. We're going to try this and see. If this is going well here, we may do some more beach destinations with the pirate theme."

The new pirate show is the second new major attraction to go up in Myrtle Beach this season. The tallest Ferris wheel in the eastern United States went up back in May and stands 200 feet tall and cost $12 million to make. It also has one million LED lights on it and each of the 42 gondolas are air conditioned.

So if you are planning on taking the family on vacation this year, Myrtle Beach may be the place to go. You can spend some time at the beach, ride one of the nation's biggest ferris wheels and see an awesome pirate show at a dinner theater. I'm sold already!

It is also recommended that you do not shave your dog for the summer. This seems to go against everything you have heard, right? Hotel Tax in Rome Takes Effect

Planning on visiting Rome any time soon? Well, why not? It is only one of the most beautiful and most visited cities in the world! While it is true that the city of Rome is truly a wonderful place to visit, there are some things you might want to know about before you pack up the family and book a tour of The Colosseum. Visitors to the historic city are going to be hit by a new tax on tourism this year.

Starting yesterday, January 1, 2011, all visitors to Rome are expected to pay a per-person per-night tax on the first ten nights of their vacation. The rates vary on what type of hotel you are staying in. Guests staying in a one to three star hotel will be expected to pay 2 Euros per night whereas people in four and five star hotels will be asked for 3 Euros per night.

This tax will be collected at the end of your stay in Rome and funds generated by the tax will be used to financially assist city authorities in efforts to organize urban services. According to officials, authorities wish to ensure that the standard of your stay is highly efficient and of the best possible quality. Visitors to youth hostels will not have to pay the fee, but there is a 1 Euro fee for a maximum of five days if you decide to stay at a campsite inside the city boundaries.

Bed and breakfast accommodations and farm inns will require a 2 Euro payment for a maximum of ten days. There is also a fee asked from anyone who has booked or paid for a trip through a travel agency or tour operator. You then have to pay by presenting a voucher at the reception desk.

It remains to be seen how this will affect the travel industry in Rome. With money being tight, at least in America, these extra fees may cause people to take their travels elsewhere.
